California Science Center Announces Hands-On Science Camp Summer 2025

Weeklong day camps from June 16 to August 8, 2025
General enrollment opens February 26, 2025

The California Science Center’s summer 2025 Hands-On Science Camp will be held June 16 through August 8, offering Pre-K through 8th grade students over 25 unique classes in weeklong day camps on half or full-day schedules, with something to appeal to each camper’s specific interests. Enrollment opens February 26 at 11 a.m. View class descriptions and enroll online at www.californiasciencecenter.org/camp.

In Hands-On Science Camp, curious young minds engage in exploration-based activities led by a staff of trained educators with backgrounds in science and/or education and working professionals from a variety of science fields. Inquiry-driven classes capture children’s attention and inspire critical thinking with research-based educational techniques. Campers learn by doing science as they mix, launch, dig, dissect, observe, explore, and so much more.

“At the California Science Center, we believe every child is a scientist at heart,” said Jeffrey Rudolph, President and CEO. “Hands-On Science Camp is not just about learning science – it’s about fostering curiosity, building friendships, and developing life skills like critical thinking, teamwork, and perseverance. We are proud to create a welcoming and inspiring space where young learners can explore their world through hands-on discovery and collaboration. Our commitment to accessibility ensures that no child is turned away due to lack of financial resources, with scholarships available for families who need support.”

Hands-On Science Camp provides a class for every age and stage. Programs for the youngest learners are parent-child classes for Pre-K students, that focus on a scientific theme with exciting hands-on activities, including classes that invite children to take a look at themselves from the inside out or examine chemical reactions that take place all around us. Campers in Kindergarten through 8th grade can join courses on topics of rocket building, robot building, chemical reaction experiments, the connection between science and cooking, magic in science, engineering, animal care, and marine biology, among others.

Hands-On Science Camp takes place in the California Science Center’s Wallis Annenberg Building for Science Learning and Innovation. The facility offers themed classrooms and laboratories and the 32,000 square-foot Big Lab, with its large-scale experimentation platforms. Courses take advantage of the Big Lab’s unique features with hands-on investigations involving air flow, buoyancy, gravity, and ecology; as well as the exhibits available at the California Science Center. Classes are available in the morning, afternoon, or full-day options to create an optimum schedule and students should select classes based upon their rising grade level (the grade they will enter in Fall 2025).
